Network Function Virtualization: A Primer
نویسندگان
چکیده
Network function virtualization (NFV) and Software Defined Networking (SDN) are widely acknowledged as potential disruptive technologies of next generation computer networks. The network operators are pushing the frontiers of NFV to reduce operational expenditure (OPEX) and capital expenditure (CAPEX). Network vendors and academic researchers look upon NFV as an opportunity to speed up innovation in modern networks. NFV also opens the space for rapid innovation in network services by reducing the cost of deployment and maturation cycle duration. This article describes the origins of NFV, its current state-ofthe-art architecture, development tools, use cases, and its relationship with SDN. This article also brings forth the challenges this field holds for the academia and industry. Received on ; accepted on ; published on

متن کاملA Design of Heterogeneous Cloud Infrastructure for Big Data and Cloud Computing Services
Cloud computing and big data are two core services in many organizations. Combining a big data platform, such as Hadoop, into the cloud architecture using virtualization technique will result in losing the performance benefit of MapReduce. Unique for the existing virtualized big data cloud, this work introduces an innovative cloud architecture called the heterogeneous cloud. In the heterogeneou...

Software Defined Networking and Network Function Virtualization: bridging the world of virtual networks
Software Defined Networking (SDN) and Network Function Virtualization (NFV) are two emerging and complementary concepts that can be considered as key players in the virtual networks world. In particular, SDN allows managing different network services through abstraction of higher-level functionality, while NFV leverages the use of virtualization technologies to virtualize specific network funct...
